Description

These
Jan. 1, 1942, Commonwealth of the Philippines, E
mergency Treasury notes were printed by the Currency Board in Cagayan Province after the Japanese invaded and occupied the Philippines at the beginning of WW2. Until they ran out of them, they affixed the corresponding Philippine Islands Revenue stamps to these notes. The denominations went from 10 Centavos to 200 Pesos.
All of these notes are very scarce and generally, very hard to find.
These 4 Peso notes have the serial numbers 13,001 to 13,891, so only 891 were made. Interestingly, this 4 Peso note is not listed in Shafer's Philippine Emergency and Guerilla Currency of WWII. However, it is listed in Krause's World Paper Money, Specialized Issues.
This 4 Peso note has
Stamp
343892 and Serial Number 13765.
It
definitely shows signs of being in a war zone, with some tears and a tape repair. The paper and stamp colors are still the expected blue color. For a scare note, I think this is still in a collectible condition.
Please take a look at the photos to see for yourself.
