Thalassina anomala, Fossil Lobster, Gunn Point, Australia #2

Description

This fossil lobster,
Thalassina anomala,
comes from Gunn Point, Northern Territory, Australia. These lobsters are usually found encased in a hard substrate of  calcareous clay. It is thought that the animals were buried alive in their tunnels during a catastrophic, or a series of catastrophic, events during the Holocene.
This specimen consists of 7 leg segments, part of a thorax and 6 tail  segments. It is 2.55 inches long and 1.65 inches wide at its widest.
All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
