Description
Extremely rare, mid 1940’s war-time era OMAS Extra Lucens set (fountain pen and mechanical pencil) in luscious warm brown tortoiseshell transparent celluloid with silver permanio trim. The exceptional Senior/Paragon sized (5.5”/14 cm capped, 5”/12.5 cm uncapped and 6.5”/16.2cm posted) faceted fountain pen is in excellent condition and writes beautifully with its original smooth, period correct Fine sized semi-flex Extra Lucens 14k gold nib with drop-shaped vent hole… exhibiting the legendry flex OMAS vintage nibs are known for!
The factory impressed “AS” on the celluloid cap is crisp (AS are the initials of OMAS founder Armando Simoni who was still overseeing the factory in Bologna, Italy at the time this pen set was crafted) and the cap lip is in excellent condition - no chips or cracks. The reliable Omas Stantuffo Tuffante or “plunger” filler works great and provides the fountain pen with a huge ink capacity (approx. 3 ml).
I purchased this pen set which includes the original OMAS box in matching tortoise design from Letizia Iacopini whom many know as
the
authority on impeccable vintage OMAS… unfortunately some financial commitments necessitate me selling several pens from my collection, but my heart is already heavy with letting this particular fountain pen go (truly a grail for many collectors). A rare OMAS celluloid set of this color, size, and condition with original box are seldom available for purchase anywhere in the world.
