I bought this set at pen show many years ago. I didn't know much about it then and still don't, however, the EGO line seems to have been introduced in the 1970's when pen designs acquired a slender, engineered look. Montblanc had the Noblesse; Aurora the Hastil. Sailor, Caran d'Ache, Pilot, Dunhill, Dupont and so on, followed suit until tastes turned to neo-vintage styles that were rounder, fatter and more colourful. The slim, metal pens from the 70's and 80's have been overlooked bargains for years but are now starting to become desirable collectibles themselves.I used the FP for a few years and it was great. The nib is smooth with a good flow. The pen has good weight and feel in the hand. I didn't use the ballpoint much but it still writes and works properly. (The refill is marked OMAS but I think a Paper Mate refill would fit.) Both pens came in a wooden box with a sleeve marked EGO "Lacque" so the sleeve is for a lacquer version of this pen. There is a tray for the accessories (converter filler, a neat plastic case holding 2 ink cartridges and a roller-ball refill. (I don't know if the ballpoint can be converted into a roller ball.) There is not a tray for the 2 pens, however, and the wooden box has a break near the hinges.
The pen barrels are heavily textured, which gives them a great gripping surface that makes them comfortable to hold despite being slender. There are no identifying marks except at the cap tops/barrel end, which are marked E G O inside crossed swords with the number 925 indicating sterling silver. The clip is marked "Made in Italy". The nib is marked OMAS 585 EGO M (for medium).
The fountain pen measures 14.1cm (5 1/2") capped and 15.8cm 6 1/8") posted. The ballpoint measures 14cm (5 1/2"). Tracked shipping to any of the 50 US states or within Canada is .
