This auction is for the four (4) items pictured and described here. Each is a
12.5" x 19" issue of the Illustrated Current News
- a one-page news publication that was typically posted in store windows to attract potential customers.
I do not know if these are original issue, or reproductions
. They have a bit of a glossy finish, and are in very good condition, with no creasing, holes, or other damage. They do not have folds down the middle, as some I've seen listed have. I picked up a collection a few years ago, and decided to sell some of them in lots now.
These four posters all involve planes and flight.
1. Howard Hughes' record-breaking flight around the world
2. Will Rogers and Wiley Post - last photo before plane crashed in Alaska
3. T.W.A. Sky Chief flying over the French ship Normandie
4. Pearl Harbor attack scenes, including the U.S.S. Arizona, and the U.S. destroyers Shaw and Downes
The years are 1935, 1928 (2), and 1942. Very cool collectables, particularly if you are a fan of this era!
