    Description

Large brochure pitching Ackerman's planned / gated community in Florida, a bit south of Orlando in Polk county, on the shores of beautiful Lake We-oh-ya-Kapka. Among its assets were Florida's splendid climate, low tax rates, nearby sports & recreational possibilities, and of course, "IMPORTANT: All Purchasers Must Be Approved By Indian Lake Club".
Ackerman found success developing east-coast properties, and had been seeking opportunities elsewhere. After, it says, a three-year search, he settled on a roughly 12-square mile tract about 18 miles east of Lake Wales.
Unfortunately, most of the plots were bought by speculators, and only about 170 homes were built in the estate's early years, despite Ackerman's company sinking millions into building roads, canals, & a pier; by 1959, he had sold out, and the development went bankrupt in 1965. As of 2009, there were about 700 homes on the development's over 8000 lots. Large folded sheet, about 18½ by 33 inches, light wear, some rumpling, light smudges.
